I’m Dr. Swati Sinkar, and I’m a general paediatric ophthalmologist based in Adelaide. Vision is one of our most cherished senses, fundamental to our daily lives and overall wellbeing. Yet millions of people worldwide suffer from debilitating eye diseases that threaten their ability to see. Blinding conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and inherited retinal dystrophies not only affect the individual’s quality of life, but also place a significant burden on the families, healthcare system, and society as a whole.
Supporting ophthalmic research means investing in groundbreaking science and innovation that have the potential to transform lives. Through your contributions, researchers can develop new treatments, drive technological innovation, enhance early diagnosis and prevention, and address health disadvantages, and your support is vital to the ongoing fight against vision loss and to make a profound and lasting impact on the lives of those affected by vision loss. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to making this difference.
