The Global Eye Genetics Consortium (GEGC) is an initiative that started in 2014 with a research agreement signed between NEI-NIH in the US and Tokyo Medical Center in Japan. In the past seven years, the consortium has expanded to more than 30 countries and serves several hundred members around the world.
This year, the NEI-GEGC educational workshop will focus on the NIH grant opportunities, how foreign investigators can write NIH grants, and how grant applications are reviewed at NIH. The program will stimulate discussion on the current issues and challenges in genetic eye research, forming new international research partnerships, grant applications and NIH review process.
